I quit my job a number of years ago now. I felt compelled to learn what I could accomplish if I had my own business. At the time I left my formal employment, I went with COBRA for ongoing health insurance but I let go of my dental insurance. I really didn’t want to do that, but to balance the budget, it was a necessary move.
Since that time, I no longer have COBRA benefits available but I did sign up for a health insurance policy. I am absolutely amazed at how the costs risen sharply and consistently over these years! I admit I didn’t really look around, but in all this time I had not become aware of any affordable dental plans, so have continued without coverage.
In the last few weeks, I learned of a website, DentalPlans.com. These guys offer “discount dental plans.” Discount? I wondered what that meant. Cynicism aside, I discovered it means you can pay a membership fee of $80 or a little more, and receive a pretty respectable percentage off the price of regular dental treatment. The percentage can be up to 60%. Wow.
Now this isn’t the only website where you can learn about affordable dental plans, it’s just the first one I became aware of. I think I’m sold too. My dental needs over my lifetime have been very minimal. Looks like a pretty good idea to get regular dental care to make sure that trend continues. I’m really quite impressed that so many dentists are willing to go along with this type of plan, too. Proves that many really do want to make sure people get the services they need. I appreciate that.
