Warmed by the sparkling waters of the gulf, cooled by lovely breezes, and kissed by radiant sunshine, visitors are pretty much guaranteed a perfect Florida vacation on the sparkling Gulf Coast of Florida.

Start your fun holiday by pleasing the kids, and of course the other youngsters in your family, no matter what their ages. Head for the airport, or load up your van and head down the highway to Orlando where you’ll find Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, Sea World, and be just an hour or so from Busch Gardens in Tampa.

Kennedy Space Center should not to be missed either. For anyone who is interested in the planets, and man’s attempt to reach out through space travel, this is the place to see. Plan on spending as much time as you can. The displays and information are extremely well presented and you will need to do it justice without rushing.

When you’ve fulfilled your tourist requirements, now is the time to explore the real Florida. The Florida that stars Mother Nature in all her glory.

One of the towns to explore and enjoy is Bonita Springs. It’s south of Fort Myers and north of Naples, along the gorgeous Gulf Coast.

Bonita Springs is known as the Gateway to the Gulf and it boasts white sugar sand beaches that will delight every member of your family. If you forgot your pails and shovels, just head to the the nearest souvenir shop and make your selection.

Bonita Springs was first called Survey and was prominent back when local plantations grew bananas, coconuts and pineapples. When word got out that the area was also great for hunting and fishing, thousands more visitors started flocking in.

The name Bonita Springs refers to a local spring found along Highway 41. According to the natives of the area, the waters of this spring had special healing powers. Just about the time the Tamiami Trail was completed the name of the town was changed from Survey to Bonita Springs to give it more tourist appeal. Sure enough the town began to prosper as droves of people headed to the area from up north.

Attractions in the area include outstanding fishing, shell collecting, beautiful beaches, and of course the gorgeous weather. And if you are a golfer the Bonita Springs area has many outstanding golf courses, many of which have been designed by tour players and famous golf architects.

You’ll probably not want to leave Bonita Springs’ sunny skies, and warm hospitality. But when you do, you’ll have many great memories of your southwest Florida vacation to share with everyone back home.
