Well, I haven’t so much had time to speak on my blog half as often as I would’ve liked, owing to the fact that I have been helping my Dad fuel his super nutball midlife crisis. Okay, some would argue it’s not as far gone as it could be. Basically how he did it was to get himself dressed up like he was Fonzie or something, and storm over to my apartment and casually inform me, in his “coolest” tone of voice: “Come on in, son, we are gonna start looking for some classic Mustangs for sale. You better believe it, brother, I’m going to make this thing happen.”
Next thing I know he & I were off to a couple of those weird vintage car sales lots that I’m always mostly convinced are not exactly legit, and I stare in wonder this wild old guy made out a check right there on the spot, for an unnaturally sparkly classic mustang. I mean, it really is an impressive piece of machinery. It had a great sound too.
There’s a reason why I put about that sound in a past tense. It sounded amazing until it rendered itself silent. My Dad informs me that it’s a pretty quick fix and he just needs to find the right part. Only thing is, it’s not as painless to get your hands on 1969 Mustang parts as it was over 30 years ago, but Dad swears there is a pretty sizable market for them to this day. From what I’m told the best place to find parts for classic Mustangs is by way of web auctions, since you can get them all refurbished and occasionally even brand new. They’re only sometimes cheap, however… Get real, we’re talking about thirty year old automobile parts.
I guess it could’ve been worse… He could have bought a volkswagen bus.
